SWS Showjumping Sponsors Gala Evening

Always a great night out with the horse gang and it never disappoints.
We love and wait with anticipation for the hairy ponies race – bareback carnage for 2 laps of the arena in rounds. I am forever amazed at the seats these riders have. Several were mounted games riders and their skill definitely showed. Bravo to all who are brave enough!
The jumping is supported with a really positive atmosphere and it is lovely to see some younger riders getting a proper crowd to ride in front of and get cheered on! Some real talent and good sportsmanship.
I always like to see ponies getting patted and treated like the superstars they are, regardless of the result, and there was plenty of that to see.
I also should point out I fell in love with nearly everything under 14hh.
I have a type…what can I say?

It is a great evening with a mix of madness and showjumping and it is absolutely worth the £5 it cost.
If you are planning on going…heed my warning. Make sure you wrap up warm – it gets really cold in there in December. I had several layers on, and a wool scarf, and committed to my muck boots, SEU fleece hat and Equidry and even had a hot water bottle with me – still cold. Seriously. Wrap up.
All in all a great night out. I see it as a marker that we are nearly at the shortest day of the year so after Xmas we are basically celebrating getting back to spring…right? RIGHT*?
*She was in fact not right and it is still freezing in February.
